1762 marks the unveiling of the famous di Trevi fountain in Rome, Catherine the 2nd becoming the emperor of Russia, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s publication of his Social Contract. At that time, near Cognac, the grapes were born which were used for the production of a cognac opened during a meeting inaugurating the co-operation between Wealth Solutions and Armin Strom. The alcoholic beverage is an item that belongs to Wealth Solutions’ collection and was purchased by the company in 2014 during an auction of rare wines and liquors organized by Bonhams Fine Art Auctioneers & Valuers in NYC. The Gautier cognac bottle dating back to 1762 was, during the event, granted the title of the oldest cognac sold at a public auction to-date.
The bottle was opened just now so that the work on Wealth Solutions and Armin Strom’s project could be commenced. Thanks to such co-operation, for the first time in history the world of collector’s beverages will unite with the world of Swiss mechanical watches. The results of such combination will be displayed during the next Basel World Fair in Basel (17-24 March 2016), the greatest such event in the clock-making industry.
The ceremony of opening the bottle of the oldest cognac in the world took place on 4 November 2015 at Hotel Bristol in Warsaw in the presence of a Notary Public. It was attended by: Sebastian Marten, Head of Sales and Marketing at Armin Strom, Maciej Kossowski, President of the Management Board of Wealth Solutions, Michał Kowalski, Deputy President of Wealth Solutions, Łukasz Baranowski, Deputy President of Wealth Solutions, and Edward Bates, expert at Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac.
